The Day I Told the Librarian Off
We spend a lot of time here. This particular day, we went to the library. I'm not sure if you've ever spent a bitter cold Maine winter indoors with a 2 and a 4-year-old, but let me tell you, you want to allow them every opportunity to run around. So when they started running in a little circle around the puppet theater, I just let them. No one else was there, no one else on the entire floor but the librarian. They had been running about 25 seconds when...the librarian corrected my children in front of me. I let it slide for a moment or two, perusing a book without reading it. Then I burst into tears.
I wiped my face, charged up to the desk and we had the following conversation:
Why did you correct my children in front of me? Well, they were not using their walking feet; I was afraid they would crash into something. I'm right there. I'm their mother. Don't you think if I perceive danger I will say something myself? Don't correct my children in front of me. *Stunned silence*
Nothing much else to say here!
