Day Out with Thomas
We went to Boothbay to see Thomas the Tank Engine during this year's Day Out with Thomas. If you're not aware of these events, Thomas the tank engine himself (as in a real, working engine!) visits your town for a few days. You can ride in the train cars Thomas pulls. I don't have too many images of this day because my hands were pretty full enjoying time talking with Geoff and doing things with the children like applying temporary Thomas tattoos, making sand art bracelets, and feeding them lunch and riding the train with them in my lap. However, this particular Day Out with Thomas location, the Boothbay Railway Village, is chock full of other interesting things to do while you wait to board the train - basically, a small mock New England village, complete with church, barn, school (with a bell you can ring), a shop, and a caboose, antique fire engine, and antique tractors you can play in. G was especially fond of playing on the bunk beds in the caboose.
Some of my favorite images did not come from posing in front of Thomas (though I do have that obligatory cell phone shot, with no one smiling at my camera except Thomas. The size and sincerity of his smile makes up for it, though, you have to admit. He's pretty expressive.) No, my favorite images came from the in-between moments when no one was paying attention but me.
