It rained July 4th, so the fireworks we were planning to see were postponed until the following day, July 5th. We joined Geoff's sister, Stacy, and her husband Jake in Portland, where they live very near the Eatern Promenade (a waterfront park where the fireworks display is held every year). I love their neighborhood, Munjoy Hill - revived history with an upbeat, laidback attitude. When we took a pre-dinner walk to see the sun set over the hill a couple hours before the fireworks, there were people having informal parties in their small, neat lawns. I love New England architecture and this area has been pretty well preserved, with plenty of friendly faces.
